Winner of the HSHP Social Studies Department's

"My View: I Am America" Photo Contest

This photo was taken August 21, 2017 during the Total Solar Eclipse 2017. As someone who is not born in here, America definitely still feels like home. In this picture, we were able to watch the eclipse with our homely neighbors, and family friends that came all the way from Georgia. It was an amazing experience to have those we love around us, sharing the same moment with us. Even though we are of different race, color, and ethnicity, we still strongly bond over Faith, Love, Friends and Family, which is what makes America a wonderful country to me and my family!!! These people are very important to me, because they are like my second family, and I love spending time with them because they make me and my family feel LOVED and CARED for, even though my actual relatives live on the other side of the world. So, through my eyes, I don't see America as a country where there is constant violence, or the politics are surreal; instead I view America as my home- the place where I grew up to be who I am, surrounded with people completely different, yet identical, to me!!!
